The Sixth Bilateral Meeting between Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism, Brunei Darussalam and the Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, The Socialist Republic of Viet Nam was held today on 4th December 2023 in Bandar Seri Begawan. Yang Mulia Dayang Hajah Wanidawati Haji Tamat, Acting Director of Fisheries, Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism, Brunei Darussalam as the co-chair for The Sixth Bilateral Meeting opened the meeting with her opening remarks.
In her opening speech, she welcomed the Delegation from the Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, The Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, led by Dr. Nhu Van Can, Deputy Director General, Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, The Socialist Republic of Viet Nam who was also the co-chair of the meeting. She expressed her gratitude on the commitment from both countries to regain relationship during this endemic period, and continuous cooperation in promoting fisheries sectors for the mutual benefit of both parties.
The agenda of the meeting includes the discussion on the progress of the Fifth Bilateral Meeting held in 2019, projects and activities related to fisheries sectors, among others, include investment opportunities, aquaculture development, post-harvest technology and research and development. The meeting also serves as a platform for exchange of information between shrimp operators and expert on shrimp from The Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, whereby a seminar on the shrimp farm diseases was held attended by the shrimp farming operators in this country and delivered by Dr. Loc Tran, a specialist in shrimp diseases from The Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.
The meeting is expected to achieve significant outputs and fruitful contribution in strengthening cooperation between The Department of Fisheries, Brunei Darussalam and The Socialist Republic of Viet Nam via exchange of expertise, transfer of knowledge and technologies.
