31.3.2022_SECOND MEETING OF THE JOINT WORKING GROUP FOR AGRI-FOOD COLLABORATION BETWEEN BRUNEI DARUSSALAM AND THE REPUBLIC OF SINGAPORE

​Yang Mulia Dayang Hajah Tutiaty binti Haji Abdul Wahab, Permanent Secretary, Primary Resources and Tourism, Brunei Darussalam co-chaired The Second Meeting of The Joint Working Group (JWG) for Agri-Food Collaboration Between Brunei Darussalam and The Republic of Singapore on Thursday, 31st March 2022 held at Setia Pahlawan Hall, Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism. The Second Meeting of The Joint Working Group for Agri-Food Collaboration was co-chaired by Mr. Lee Chuan Teck,Permanent Secretary (Development), Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI). The JWG is a platform for increased cooperation between Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Singapore in areas of investment facilitation between both countries in the agriculture and fisheries sector; collaboration on research and development for increased output and productivity; provide trainings to develop human resource capacity in the government and private sectors; sharing of knowledge and Standards, Conformance and Quality Assurance; and to develop enterprise competencies in order to enhance the capabilities of agriculture and fisheries sector operators. The meeting discussed on proposed areas of collaboration in agriculture and fisheries sector, sharing of information on certification to aquaculture farms and other potential areas of research and development collaboration. Also present during the meeting were the Deputy Permanent Secretaries, Primary Resources and Tourism, High Commissioner of the Republic of Singapore, and Senior Officers from the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism, Department of Agriculture and Agrifood and Department of Fisheries and the Republic of Singapore’s representatives included from Ministry of Trade and Industry,

 Enterprise Singapore, and Singapore Food Authority. Prior to the meeting, a working visit was held on 30th March 2022 to several fisheries companies operating in aquaculture and processing activities, as well as a visit to available potential site for investment. In addition, a business matching session was also conducted in the afternoon involving several business representatives from the Republic of Singapore and fisheries entrepreneurs, with the objective of facilitating market access for local products to be exported to the Republic of Singapore, as well as other opportunities for increased growth and networking, especially in identifying market requirements from the Republic of Singapore. The export value for fisheries product in 2021 was around $6.46 million which comprise of 14% of total fisheries export figure last year
