Main Functions
- Responsible
for ensuring sustainability and well being of marine fisheries
resources by :-
- Planning
of research, evaluation, management and monitoring program for
marine fisheries resources;
- Implementation
of programs for evaluation, verification and dissemination of
capture and fishing gear technology;
- Responsible
for execution of development plans for the capture fisheries industry

- Promotion
and facilitation of investment into the capture fisheries
industry;
- Overall
development programs for capture fisheries industry;
- Support
programs for promoting and marketing of capture fisheries
products;
- Responsible
for planning and implementation of management and conservation
programs for marine resources :-
- Conservation
of important marine eco-systems and resource enhancement;
- Management
and conservation of endangered marine species;
- Responsible
for planning and execution of programs for ensuring the socio-economic
well being of small-scale fishermen :-
- Assistance
and support services for small-scale fishermen.
