Main Functions
- Promote and facilitate investment
into the capture fisheries industry :-
- Updates on exploitation
status and capture fisheries quotas;
- Tendering of available
fisheries industry quotas;
- Evaluation of tenders and
application for fishing quotas and fishing operations;
- Evaluation of proposals and
application for financial assistance via the Financial Assistance
Scheme and Micro-Credit Scheme by capture fisheries operators /
investors;
- Evaluation of application for
labour quotas for capture fisheries industry;
- Monitoring and evaluation of
newly awarded operations :-
- Monitoring of
implementation plan and submission of development reports to
BM Meeting;
- Monitoring, evaluation on
development of operation and submission of reports to BM and /
or PIC Meetings;
- Monitoring and
certification of purchases made by recipients of Financial
Assistance Scheme / Micro-Credit Scheme.
- Handling of issues with respect
to development and improvement of capture fisheries industry :-
- Preparation of performance
indicators of the capture industry :-
- Statistical data
collection and collation - production and landings;
- Statistical datra
collection from small-scale fishermen;
- Implementation of projects /
programs to promote the development of capture fisheries industry

- Mobile Technical Unit
visits to operations / landing sites and coordination of any
dialogue and discussions with fishermen;
- 803-002 : Pusat
Perbekalan Industri Perikanan, Penyimpanan dan Pengedaran Ikan
[purchase of netting materials and accessories for trawl
nets];
- 803-007 : Rancangan
Bantuan Bagi Pengusaha-Pengusaha Industri Penangkapan Komersil
- [construction and deployment of FAD];
- Preparation of data and
indicators on well-being and the socio-economic development of
small-scale fishermen :-
- "Pegawai Angkat"
program for Kg Batu Marang; Kg Jerudong; Kg Saba; Kg Setia A
& B; Kg Pudak and Kg Buang Sakar;
- Collection, analysis and
monitoring of production statistics of small-scale fishermen;
- Evaluation on application
for financial assistance through SKP and Micro-Credit;
- Monitoring and evaluation of
operation :-
- Monitoring of the
development of fishing vessel and business operation and
reporting of status to BM Meeting;
- Evaluation and
development reports on operation to BM and PIC Meetings -
expansion / revocation of licenses;
- Monitoring and
certification of purchases made by recipients of Financial
Assistance Scheme / Micro-Credit Scheme;
- Handling of issues related to
marketing of products :-
- Evaluation of requirement and
proposals on marketing strategies for product marketing :-
- Evaluate supply-demand of
local market vs imports;
- Identification of
pre-requisite infrastructure and facilities for storage and
distribution of products - cold storage, ice plants, freezing
facilities etc;
- Assist in market strategy
coordination.
