Main Functions

  1. Promote and facilitate investment into the capture fisheries industry :-

    1. Pelagic fisheries;

    2. Long Lining;

    3. Deepsea Fishing In Zone 4.
       

  2. Process and evaluate new applications of capture fisheries industry and further to be tabled to the Project Evaluation Committee Meeting, Department of Fisheries for endorsement before forwarding it to Project Implementation Committee Meeting of The Ministry Of Industry and Primary Resources for approval;
     

  3. Facilitate the Capture Fisheries Industry operators to procure the :-

  • Small Medium Enterprise (SME) loan scheme;

  • Labour quota;

  • Vessel Import Permit;

  • Radio license/permit.

  1. Monitoring the development of Capture Fisheries Industry by/ through :-

  • Mobile technical Unit (MTU);

  • Provision of technical advice in the “ease of start” and ease of operation programme.

  1. Implementation of “Pegawai Angkat” for small scale fishery sector;
     

  2. Statistics - Data collection and data analysis of small scale and commercial fisheries of Capture Fisheries Industry.
