Main Functions
-
Monitoring
Red Tides occurrences through routine water sampling, air
surveillance and analysing randomly the fish that are being
sold in wet markets in Brunei Darussalam;
-
Implementing all the responsibilities given as the secretariat
for the National Red Tides Plan of Action Committee;
-
Monitoring
the water quality for both marine waters and rivers in Brunei
Darussalam;
-
Implementing programs and activities for marine species
conservation such as Sea Turtles that are included in CITES
list;
-
Implementing national programs and activities that involves
Fisheries matter that are required as a CITES member in Brunei
Darussalam;
-
Implementing research and development programs in efforts to
gazette marine protected areas and the feasibilities of
providing both offshore and inshore facilities under Marine Park
project;

Implementing marine ecosystem resource enhancement programs and
protection such as natural and artificial reefs, breeding
grounds and nursery grounds for various marine organisms;
-
Implementing projects and research with regards to marine
ecosystem either with local institutions or from abroad or
within the Fisheries Department itself.
