Carnival
Participants Ask For Encore
MUARA, 3 September 2006,
Sunday - Following the success of the annual fisheries carnival, a
participating entrepreneur's representative suggested to the Fisheries
Department to hold the carnival for a second time, in another district,
this year.
Participating entrepreneurs
gave a thumbs-up to the organiser and thanked the Fisheries Department
for its continued efforts to assist them to promote fisheries activities
and expose their companies' names and up-to date fishing technology and
industry equipment.
Participating companies
showcased made in Brunei products such as fibreglass boats in various
lengths sizes and shapes.
A local company from Tutong
district, the first in the country to build fibreglass boats, showcased
its products costing $3000 and above depending, on size and type.
The three-day Fisheries
Carnival 2006 ended over the weekend after receiving an overwhelming
response.
Visitors bought fresh
seafood and other related products, and joined games and competition.
The fisheries carnival, an
annual activity of the Fisheries Department, promoted and assisted
related fisheries industries entrepreneurs to the market and upgrade
their sales and to develop fisheries ecotourism activities to boost the
local tourism industry.
