Fisheries Carnival Expects to Draw Huge Crowds
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - Local
entrepreneurs in the seafood processing, aquaculture and all the related
industries that support the development of fisheries industries in the
country are expected to converge at the Fish Landing Complex Serasa,
Muara for this year's "Karnival Perikanan 2008" or Fisheries Carnival
2008.
The carnival, organised by
the Department of Fisheries under the Ministry of Industry and Primary
Resources, will be held from Jan 31 to Feb 3.
The carnival held in the
past year was deemed a great success in showcasing local entrepreneurs'
achievements in fisheries related activities in their struggle to raise
productivity in the country.
The activity is an annual
event of the Fisheries Department in its effort to promote and help
upgrade entrepreneurs in the related fields.
The carnival acts as a
platform to promote and encourage the Fisheries Eco-Tourism industry.
One of the highlights of
the carnival will be the exhibition booth and sale of improved quality
local products.
The carnival is aimed at
promoting fisheries products and introduces the achievement and
activities of fisheries entrepreneurs. It also provides an opportunity
for entrepreneurs to sell and promote technologies, fishery gears and
machineries used in the fisheries industry.
Various activities will be
open to the public such as seafood cooking demonstration and
competition.
