The Department of Fisheries, Brunei Darussalam, together with the Brunei Darussalam Food Authority (BDFA), participated in the Workshop for the Development of ASEAN Guidelines on Inspection for Imported Fish and Fisheries Products, held from 1–2 September 2026 in Jakarta, Indonesia. The workshop was organised under the ASEAN-JICA Food Value Chain Development Project (AJFVC).
The workshop brought together representatives from ASEAN Member States to discuss the development of ASEAN Guidelines on the inspection of imported fish and fisheries products, with the aim of establishing practical and consistent inspection procedures to support food safety.
The discussions covered national inspection practices, technical requirements and areas for regional cooperation. Participation in the workshop also provided an opportunity to exchange experiences and strengthen coordination between fisheries and food safety authorities, contributing to the development of practical regional guidelines that are relevant to the respective national contexts of ASEAN Member States.
