The Department of Fisheries is proud to have Brunei Darussalam represented by five officers at the Marine Protected Areas (MPA) Regional Workshop, held from 7–8 July 2026 in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The workshop provided a valuable platform for knowledge exchange, regional collaboration, and strengthening efforts towards effective marine protected area management and sustainable fisheries.
The workshop provided a valuable opportunity for participants to share knowledge and experiences, strengthen regional collaboration, and discuss shared marine challenges. Participants also exchanged practical lessons on governance, surveillance, enforcement, and scientific research, while exploring opportunities for future cooperation.
The workshop was delivered through Australia’s Southeast Asia Maritime Partnerships, which supports regional partners in addressing shared maritime challenges.
The Department remains committed to working with regional partners to strengthen marine conservation efforts and support the sustainable management of Brunei Darussalam’s marine resources
